Living Outside the Box
Over the last year I have been trying to start my own business. I would love to tell you that I have been really successful at it but it is safe to say that right now I am at a crossroads of whether to continue or to walk away. Having said that I can’t help but wonder if I would be further with my business if I didn’t have my family telling me over and over to get a job or asking me about a job or recommending a job. It is like they can’t see anything outside the normal box of “Job”. Not that I have never had a job. I am in my thirties after all, but I have had enough jobs to get that I am just not a 9-5 sort of person. This has really been a mental struggle as of late. It has almost pushed me over the edge. I have been thinking that there is something wrong with me because I don’t want to work for anyone else. That I like having the freedom to work from home and be in control of my own time. It that such a hard thing to understand?
But I also like to shop. Like most women I like to hit the mall and come back with a crap load of things that I completely don’t need. I also like to eat and go to the movies and concerts and plays and art museums and all those things cost money. So without business booming or a trust fund that will off set my financial lifestyle then it is a hard spot to be in. I could try to win the lottery but I really don’t believe in that or for that matter what to waste dollar after dollar after dollar. So what is a girl to do? The city cost and these nails don’t do themselves.
But there is also the other side of the spectrum. There are a lot of new opportunities to work from home and make a decent living. You might not get rich but you won’t starve either, but I wonder would my family also see this as a problem to. Does it really have to be just leaving home to go to a place that you hate that is evil but has control over you and your time simply because it holds your paycheck? Why can’t some of us just live outside the norm? Do we all have to conform to the same old same old? I think not and I think there are others that would agree. After all these thousands of blogs don’t just appear. There are hundreds of us working from home and making it work and I say to you all; Way to live outside the box!
